In 1859, Charles Darwin published his book On the Origin of Species, suggesting that all life forms came into existence through an evolutionary process called “natural selection.” In 1925, the ACLU set up the “Scopes Monkey Trial.” Clarence Darrow, the attorney for the defendant, ridiculed the Genesis account of creation. This was the beginning of the end for  teaching creation in America’s public schools. In 1931, a Roman Catholic priest made a suggestion that led to the Big Bang theory of the origin of the universe. In 1960, Willard Libby received the Nobel prize in Chemistry for radiocarbon dating leading to estimates for the age of the earth in numbers far beyond what the Bible indicates and the faith of millions of Christians was shaken.

Attempts by conservative Christians to reintroduce the teaching of creation in America’s public schools have been ineffective. Today the church in America is in serious danger of losing all credibility. Surveys indicate that today only one in twenty-five young people in America takes the Bible seriously.

In 2010, I heard a report that the scientific community had elevated Darwin’s theory of evolution from the status of theory to the status of confirmed fact. As a preacher, I determined to investigate that claim to see if the scientists were right (which would mean, in my opinion, that the Bible is wrong). I have spent years studying “natural causes” theories of the origin of the universe in an effort to establish what is true and what is not. I was prepared to end my ministry if I found that scientists have proven the Bible is wrong.

What I discovered is that the Big Bang and evolution are theories that have no foundation in fact. I will be sharing what I have learned in the seminar titled, “On the Origin of Earth and Mankind.” This is looking at origins from an entirely different perspective. It has the potential to reestablish creation as the most reasonable view of origins. This is information that every Christian needs to know. This is especially true for parents and for anyone who works with young people. For full information and/or to sign up for the seminar, contact Louisville Bible College at (502) 231-5221.
